Left Handers Quicker Thinkers?

Here's a link to an article citing research that suggests the brains of left-handers may be better at processing some kinds of information and may fare better in old age. Are left-handers quicker thinkers than righties?

  1. An interesting article! However, as usual, there are always studies that show this or that. No discrediting the article. Indeed I have been playing the piano for many years and have found that a few of my friends who are in fact left handed have less difficulty in some of the more complicated pieces.

  2. As a left-hander myself, I've always been fascinated by all the theories and the research about left-handedness. You often hear that left-handers are more creative and more visual, and while I do enjoy creative activities, I don't feel that I am excessively better than my right-handed counterparts... And I always conceived of myself as a methodical thinker rather than a "quick" thinker, but it does depend on the situation for me.

  3. That makes total sense! I am a left-handed person and I also think that people with my 'ability' have superior brains.

  4. Unfournately for me I have always been right handed . My left hand is almost useless for writing. But I wonder if I trained myself to write with my left hand if it would produce the same results that are talked about in the article.

That's an interesting question. I have read a lot of articles that suggest doing things (voluntarily) with the non-dominant hand is good for the brain in various ways.

  6. As a left hander, this is very good news :P

"So what does this mean? It could mean that left-handers have a slight advantage in sports, gaming and other activities in which players face large volumes of stimuli being thrown at them simultaneously or in quick succession."

    Now I know I'm extra special :D
